In this poem the blue mist that surrounds the distant mountains reminds the poet of the happy days of youth and childhood that she has left behind. एमिली जेन ब्रोंटे (1818-1848) एक अंग्रेजी कवयित्री और उपन्यासकार थीं, जिन्हें उनके एकमात्र उपन्यास 'वुदरिंग हाइट्स' के लिए सबसे ज्यादा याद किया जाता है, जिसे लंबे समय से अंग्रेजी साहित्य का एक क्लासिक (सर्वोत्कृष्ट कार्य) माना जाता है।

इस कविता में, दूर के पहाड़ों को घेरने वाला नीला कोहरा कवयित्री को उसकी जवानी और बचपन के उन सुखद दिनों की याद दिलाता है जिन्हें वह पीछे छोड़ चुकी हैं। जैसे-जैसे वह प्राकृतिक परिदृश्य का वर्णन करती हैं, वह वर्तमान क्षण से अतीत में चली जाती हैं, और फिर से वर्तमान में लौट आती हैं।

No; the day has wept its fill, (नो; द डे हैज़ वेप्ट इट्स फिल,)

Spent its store of silent sorrow. (स्पेंट इट्स स्टोर ऑफ़ साइलेंट सॉरो।)

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अनुवाद):

पहाड़ी पर हल्का (धुंधला) कोहरा छाया हुआ है, जो यह बता रहा है कि कल कोई तूफान नहीं आएगा; नहीं, इस दिन ने अपने हिस्से का भरपूर रोना रो लिया है, और अपने मौन दुःख के संचित भंडार को पूरी तरह खर्च (खत्म) कर दिया है।

🧠 Internal Meaning (आंतरिक गहरा अर्थ):

यहाँ प्रकृति का मानवीकरण (Personification) किया गया है। कवयित्री कहती हैं कि पहाड़ी पर दिखने वाला शांत कोहरा यह संकेत देता है कि आने वाला समय शांत होगा और कोई नया संकट (तूफान) नहीं आएगा। 'दिन का रोना' वास्तव में दिनभर हुई भारी बारिश को दर्शाता है। इसका गहरा आंतरिक अर्थ यह है कि जिस तरह इंसान अपने संचित दुःख को आंसुओं के जरिए बहाकर हल्का महसूस करता है, उसी तरह प्रकृति ने भी बारिश के रूप में रोकर अपना मौन दुःख खाली कर दिया है, जिससे अब चारों ओर शांति है।

Oh, I’m gone back to the days of youth, (ओह, आई एम गॉन बैक टू द डेज़ ऑफ़ यूथ,)

I am a child once more; (आई एम अ चाइल्ड वन्स मोर;)

And ’neath my father’s sheltering roof, (एंड नीथ माई फ़ादर्स शेल्टरिंग रूफ,)

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अनुवाद):

ओह, मैं अपने युवावस्था (बचपन) के दिनों में वापस चली गई हूँ, मैं एक बार फिर से बच्ची बन गई हूँ; और अपने पिता की सुरक्षा देने वाली छत के नीचे हूँ, और उस पुराने हॉल के दरवाजे के पास हूँ।

🧠 Internal Meaning (आंतरिक गहरा अर्थ):

वर्तमान के शांत और उदास वातावरण को देखकर कवयित्री पुरानी यादों (Nostalgia) में डूब जाती हैं। वह मानसिक रूप से अपने अतीत में लौट जाती हैं जहाँ उन्हें अपनी सुध-बुध भूलकर फिर से एक बच्ची होने का अहसास होता है। 'पिता की सुरक्षात्मक छत' (father’s sheltering roof) का आंतरिक अर्थ जीवन की परम सुरक्षा, सुकून और बेफिक्री से है, जो एक बच्चे को अपने माता-पिता के संरक्षण में मिलती है। दुनिया के दुखों से दूर वह अपने पुराने घर के दरवाजे पर खुद को सुरक्षित महसूस करती हैं।

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अनुवाद):

दिनभर की बारिश के बाद, मैं इस बादलों से घिरी शाम को ढलते हुए देख रही हूँ: गर्मियों का यह नीला कोहरा, यह प्यारा कोहरा, क्षितिज की पर्वत-शृंखला पर एक घनी चादर की तरह छाया हुआ है।

🧠 Internal Meaning (आंतरिक गहरा अर्थ):

यहाँ कवयित्री अचानक अतीत से वापस वर्तमान क्षण में लौट आती हैं। वह देखती हैं कि दिनभर की बारिश के बाद अब शाम ढल रही है। 'नीला कोहरा' और 'गर्मियों की मीठी धुंध' उनके लिए सुखद यादों का प्रतीक है जो उनके उदास मन को सुकून देती हैं। 'पॉल' (Pall) का अर्थ है एक घनी चादर या पर्दा; यह कोहरा दूर पहाड़ों की चोटियों को ऐसे ढक लेता है मानो अतीत की यादों ने उनके वर्तमान जीवन को अपने आगोश में ले लिया हो।

लंबी हरी घास में वह नमी (गीलापन) इस तरह टिकी हुई है, मानो सुबह के घने आँसू हों; और यहाँ से खुशबू की ऐसी स्वप्निल महक गुजर रही है, जो बीते हुए पुराने सालों की सांस (यादें) लेकर आती है।

कविता की आखिरी पंक्तियाँ बेहद गहरी हैं। घास पर जमी नमी की तुलना 'सुबह के आंसुओं' (morning’s tears) से की गई है, जो कवयित्री की आंतरिक उदासी और खोए हुए कल के दुःख को बयां करती है। हवा में तैरती हुई मिट्टी और प्रकृति की 'स्वप्निल खुशबू' (dreamy scents) उनके दिल को छू जाती है। इस खुशबू का आंतरिक अर्थ यह है कि प्रकृति की यह महक कवयित्री के लिए उनके पुराने सुनहरे दिनों (other years) की यादों को दोबारा जीवित कर देती है, जिससे वह अतीत की खुशियों को वर्तमान में भी महसूस कर पाती हैं।
